First up, let’s talk about self-deception. I use this strategy in the battle against unhealthy cravings. You know, those moments when all you can think about is devouring a colossal burger or feasting on a heaping pile of fries? In those moments, I lie to myself. I convince my brain that I’m not hungry, that I don’t really want those greasy, delectable fries. It’s like playing a psychological game of hide and seek with my cravings.

Next, comes the stubbornness. And no, not the kind that gets you in trouble. The kind that keeps you pushing through a rigorous workout. The kind that has you saying, “My body doesn’t hurt. I can lift more weights, run one more mile.” Sure, it might sound counterintuitive, but this mental fortitude often helps me go beyond my perceived limitations.

But the real game-changer, the strategy that trumps all others, involves my four-year-old son. Whenever I look at him, I see my ultimate motivation. I think, “I want to be able to carry this little tyke on my back, toss him around, and keep up with his boundless energy even when he grows up into a full-blown man.” It’s a big goal, I know. But the prospect of being a super-dad keeps me focused and committed to staying healthy and strong.

These strategies might not be the conventional advice you’d expect to hear, but they work for me. They keep me on track, they motivate me, and most importantly, they contribute to my overall health and well-being.
